Former Council President Diane Klaif and his running mate, Ellen Dickson, endorse Mike.
"Mike Vernotico has been a leader in addressing the needs of our seniors and our youths. Mike has proposed to sell the current outdated Johnson Building to provide the much needed capital to renovate and possibly expand the Recreation Center. Under Mike’s proposal, programs and facilities for seniors and youth would be greatly enhanced at no cost to the taxpayers. Mike is also pursing additional Senior Housing to Meet Summit’s Low Cost Housing obligations. "Mike has been consistent in his concern for the seniors. We respect him for his efforts," said Grace Poli, past President of the "Summit Seniors.""
Mike Vernotico has been Chairman of the Public Safety Committee for the past 3 years is a leader in pursuing traffic calming initiatives, physical improvements to our streets, to slow down traffic. Mike has been especially focused on improvements at our schools to protect our children. At Mike’s suggestion, this year’s Capital Budget addresses traffic calming measures, including speed monitor radar signs to warn speeders and direct them to slow down. As a member of the Public Works Committee, he is working with the PTO/PTA Safety Committee to add sidewalks where needed so our children can walk safely to school.
"Councilman Mike Vernotico takes time off from the campaign trail to attend to what he believes is his most important role in Summit – coaching kids. You will find Mike at Tatlock Field on Saturday afternoons rooting for SHS and back on Sundays to coach 4th grade football. Mike is now in this 12th Season as a coach and is a Hilltopper through and through having played on Summit High’s first ever undefeated/untied football team in 1963." ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Fall Sports Advertisement Extra Images |
